Joshua Z.: Making A Difference In The Community- One Sweet At A Time

Joshua Z. is the 16-year-old founder and owner of JZ’s Sweets which opened May 5, 2018. He has a passion for helping others and decided to utilize entrepreneurship to benefit children in need. Initially, his business offered candy, cake pops, and other dipped treats. The COVID-19 pandemic caused him to pivot towards offering online merchandise in order to help fulfill his mission.

Joshua has been able to utilize part of his proceeds to donate over $3000 worth of toiletries, clothes, school supplies, and other items to various schools and charitable organizations located in St. Louis, MO & West Tennessee. Joshua is intentional on partnering with organizations who assist children in foster care and those who are homeless.

JZ’s Sweets has been featured on Fox 2 Now and has participated in many community events. Joshua also utilizes his platform to speak to students about entrepreneurship, goal setting, and youth empowerment.

Joshua is a proud member of Young Biz Kidz- an organization that promotes youth entrepreneurship and financial literacy. He has received the “Student Spotlight” at Friendly Temple Church for his entrepreneurial efforts. Despite the challenges of the pandemic and virtual learning, Joshua was able to maintain honor roll status throughout the entire 2020-2021 school year.

He plans to publish a children’s book related to his business endeavors and mission to help others.
